MACON, Georgia September 19, 2006 Smyth & Helwys today announced the launch of youth Quickpak Bible studies. The studies are designed for quick preparation, and include media connections that help leaders involve movie clips, music, and other media in their teaching.
Quickpak Bible studies are also designed to be modular, allowing leaders to use related studies in any sequence, or to use only the particular studies they need, Even though QuickPaks are grouped by theme, each session is designed to stand alone. The first QuickPaks include: The Emotional Roller Coaster, Question Box Volume 1, Online Matters, and iCare. A free sample session from The Emotional Roller Coaster is available at www.helwys.com/quickpaks.
QuickPak Bible studies are designed to help resource youth ministry settings such as Sunday night or Wednesday night Bible study gatherings, as well as retreats or Sunday school.
Initially, youth QuickPak Bible studies are only available as digital downloads through Caleb’s Cafe groups. Caleb’s Cafe is a new online service for Christian groups that offers communications tools, articles and Bible studies. A Caleb’s Cafe group must be at the Silver or Gold subscription level in order to access the studies. A new Quickpak session will be offered each week to these Caleb’s Cafe groups. Later in 2006, several themed Quickpaks will also be available for purchase and download from NextSunday.com.
Smyth & Helwys has been increasing its emphasis on youth ministry resources. In July 2006, the company published YM2K: Youth Ministry for the Millennial Generation, by Sam Hestorf, a well-known youth ministry consultant and leader. The publishing house also publishes the popular Intersection line of youth Sunday school materials, and provides free youth ministry articles on through their online Learning Matters magazine.
“Youth ministry is a challenging and rewarding effort in today’s churches,” explains David Cassady, executive vice president and publisher of Smyth & Helwys. “Our goal is to continue increasing the availability of creative and solid youth resources. We are excited about the way youth Quickpaks work to engage a media-connected generation of youth.”
