Turner believes that the Christian "faith" still has an important and powerful word for those who have found church and Christianity to be emotionally and intellectually unsatisfying— but only if fresh meaning can be found for the traditional language of religion. Here he demonstrates how the old frames of reference can be invigorated with new life by addressing the basic issues of human existence. He also suggests for those who have struggled with believing that answers can be found to their deepest questions.

William L. Turner is, at the time of publication, Pastor of South Main Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. A graduate of Samford University (B.A.), The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div, Th.M.), and Lexington Theological Seminary (D.Min.), he was pastor of several churches in Kentucky before assuming the South Main pulpit in 1985. A frequent speaker for conferences and workshops, Turner has written articles for numerous periodicals and has been extremely active in social ministry and civic concerns as a member of numerous boards and councils.
